Argentina Releases New Resolution Resolution 169/2018

Argentina issued a new resolution (Resolution 169/2018) to replace the current resolution (Resolution 171/2016) and revised Resolution 207/2016 and Resolution 390/2016. The new resolution is expected to be implemented on May 18, 2018.


The major changes are as follows:

Lighting equipments,Luminaries, hand-held devices and other products will not be mandatory for application if the voltage is below 50V.

Except for sending samples to local tests or applying for mutual authentication agreements, after the mandatory date, the Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación(IRAM) will not be restricted by the Mutual Recognition Agreement.Customers can use the CB report issued by other notified bodies to apply certificate.

From 2020, the Type 4 certification mode will be removed, and only two types of certification modes, such as System 5 or System 2 certification, can be applied.

Reduce the market surveillance:

        a.) Mark System Mark→Extend from once per year to once every 18 months.

        b.) Type System → Extend from once per six months to once per year.

Samples sent to Argentina for local testing are no longer required the SDU Letter,instead, the Importer has to apply through the online system,which will be approved by the competent authority,thus shortening the time for testing.


This new resolution is currently at the drafting status. Some of the information is still to be clarified and may be revised again.
