Update| REACH SVHC candidate list will be added to 181 substances

- Dec 29, 2017 -

On 20 December 2017, the Member State Committee (MSC) supported the German proposal to additionally identify bisphenol A (BPA) as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) because of its endocrine disrupting properties which cause probable serious effects to the environment. Bisphenol A is already listed in the Candidate List due to its toxic for reproduction properties and due to its endocrine disrupting properties which cause probable serious effects to human health. ECHA will update the current entry for BPA accordingly and add seven additional substances to the Candidate List by mid-January. Legal obligations will start from the formal updating of the Candidate List in January 2018. By then, the SVHC candidate list will be added to 181 substances.

The new added substances are detailed below for reference.
